Abstract: The objective of this project is to use the electromagnetic force to crush an 8 oz. soda can. The main operational components include: a capacitor bank consisting of ten high voltage DC capacitors, silicon controlled rectifier (SCR), a 170VACPEAK to 340VDC voltage doubler, a voltage control circuit, and a induction coil to create an electromagnetic field.

ACM Programming Contest Team
Congratulations!
The University of Southern Mississippi School Of Computing's Association for Computing Machinery Team won 2nd place at the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest for the southeast USA region on November 6th, 2010. The ACM competition was held on the University of West Florida campus and consisted of 20 teams from various universities. The School of Computing team members were Andrew Cordar, Eric Mixon and John Corring. The School of Computing team was coached by Dr. Ahmed Abukmail, Assistant Professor for the School of Computing.
